ACS410   Flight Dynamics and Control   (10 credits)

Year Running: 2015/2016
Credit level: F7
Pre-requisites   ACS124 or equivalent

Description

The aim of this course is to provide students with an understanding of the principles of flight dynamics and the problems of controlling an aircraft's motion. This course introduces the equations of motion for a rigid body aircraft and the aerodynamic forces and moments are then determined. Static and dynamic stability and response characteristics are defined. Flying and handling qualities of an aircraft, and disturbances affecting its motion, are then analysed. The fundamentals of aircraft design are introduced and analysed with stability and related sensor systems.
